Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying an unknown male who made off with more than $500 in stolen cigarettes from a Lee County convenience store last week.
Shortly before closing up shop for the night at the Speedway, located at 9281 Daniels Road, an unknown male walked into the store and requested 10 cartons of cigarettes – 5 Marlboro Light Shorts and 5 Marlboro Red Shorts. Before paying for the items, which were placed in a plastic bag, he asked if he could borrow the key for the restroom, which was located outside the store. Within a minute of him exiting the building, a black four door sedan pulled up to the store’s front door. When the suspect returned, he asked the clerk for two more cartons of cigarettes. As she turned to retrieve the cartons, the male picked up the bag of 10 cartons and quickly ran out the door, leaving in an unknown direction in the black vehicle.
Surveillance cameras in the store captured images of both the suspect and his vehicle. He is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’7”. Anyone with information on the identity and whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
