Has The Lehigh Acres Fire Dept Email System Been Hacked?

Fire Chief John Wayne

Now Chief John Wayne as of July 4 has officially retired according to Commissioner Matt Smith.

But his email account was access today July 14, 2016 by whom? John Wayne himself?

Wayne should NOT have any access to the fire departments buildings, vehicle’s, email or financial data or on duty employees but on July 14, 2016 at 1:14 pm the Lehigh Acres Gazette newsletter was access by his email account and the only thing read was the article “Fire Chief Candidates’ Pasts in Question”, why?

Was his account hacked or is Wayne still secretly working for the Fire Commissioners and still getting paid the taxpayers of Lehigh Acres?

It’s now been confirmed by a Fire Commissioner that on July 15 Chief John Wayne email was still active and staff purposely left it on against Lehigh Acres fire district policy. As of noon on July 15, 2016 email passwords and access protocol where canceled and or changed for John Wayne’s accounts to the district servers. Eleven days after his retirement.

The Lehigh Acres Gazette also learned that Wayne has not turned in his keys for the buildings yet, why?

  1. Per our PHONCON last week, I guess I did not do a very good job of explaining the position of the District Staff. It was explained to me and I agree, that during any new Chiefs transition period, it would be more prudent for us to NOT totally shut down the access. By leaving the access open, it would perpetuate a quick and smooth transition for the new Fire Chief, once selected. It was felt that this more a far more responsible position for the people of Lehigh. Your article misinforms the public in regard to ex Chiefs salary. He has officially retired and I wish him and his family well. I have very zero tolerance with Hate mongering and I can only hope that the relationship between you and the District would improve.

    Respectfully

    1. First Districts policy at termination / retirement is that all equipment is returned and the use of any equipment and or email is terminated ASAP and NOT 12 days later. The article NO mention of the chief salary. So we do not understand comment about that. The true hurts when the staff breaks district policy and does not inform the commissioners of it. Has Chief Wayne turned in his keys yet?
