A rash of car break-ins happened overnight in Lehigh Acres.
More than a dozen vehicles, many reportedly unlocked, were targeted off Milwaukee Boulevard.
Some neighbors had security camera footage, which captured two people wearing hoods and gloves, rifling through cars. Victims say it seems like the burglars were stealing cash and coins in most instances, but in others, more serious items like a gun and social security cards were stolen.
Fingerprint dust left behind by a Lee County Sheriff’s Office investigation remains on many cars nearly a day later. The victims are left uneasy knowing no one has been arrested for the car burglaries.
Some neighbors said they will install security cameras and keep their car doors locked after this rash of car break-ins. Others want to move out of the neighborhood altogether.
“I know that I don’t feel safe in this neighborhood right now,” said Jennifer David.
