Placido Moreno-Torres, DOB: 10/05/1968, was identified as the person responsible for the double homicide on June 18, 2016 at 3511 9TH St. W. Lehigh Acres, FL.
Witnesses stated they heard Placido and his wife Amparo arguing outside and then they heard gun shots. Ricardo Vaca was a neighbor to the Moreno’s and he too heard the arguing. In his concern he went to the Moreno’s driveway to intercede and mediate between Placido and Amparo. His neighborly act appears to be his only involvement in the matter.
Placido shot and killed both Amparo and Ricardo then fled the scene on foot. Amparo and Ricardo succumbed to their injuries on scene.
Due to the nature of the crime, detectives with the Major Cases Unit responded and conducted the investigation. Witnesses quickly led to the identity of Placido and search efforts were underway for him immediately.
Placido was located and has been arrested. He will be booked into the Lee County Jail for two counts of homicide and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
