The General Woman’s Club of Lehigh Acres had their last meeting for the year in May. It was a very busy day. The club started with a pot luck lunch brought in by the members, then the Club awarded scholarship to six young women, who are raising a family and are currently enrolled in a college or technical school.
The members of the Club who worked on the scholarship committee in screening and approving the applications are from shown in the above picture. From left to right are Karen McKenzie , Sandi Jones, Norma Johnson, Diane Lashua, and Mary Beck.
Awards were given to Ms. Madeline Ramirez and Ms. Ashley King currently attending Keiser University; Ms. Sheena Ruffin, Ms. Kristina Preshard and Ms Teresa Sankey currently attending Fort Myers Technical College; Ms Krystal C. Anderson, currently attending Southern Technical College, Ms. Sandra L. Allen, currently attending Chamberlain College of Nursing, and Ms Blanca Barrios currently attending Florida Gulf Coast University.
Donations were also award to four local non-profit organizations in Lehigh Acres. There to accept the donations from President Aura Wilson was Mr. John Strickling of Hope Healthcare, Ms. Melissa Barry, Director of the Lehigh Acres Senior Citizen Center, Ms. Rae Nicely from Lehigh Community Services and Rev. Deb Frysinger of the 1st Community Congregational Church’s Helping Hands Ministries.
