Homicide in Lehigh Acres

Lee County deputies have identified the person found dead in Lehigh Acres on Sunday.

The death of Jonthomas Hobbs, 17, is being investigated as a homicide.

A patrol car has been stationed near the intersection of 32nd Street SW and Wanda Avenue since deputies swarmed the area about 9:42 pm. Sunday, searching by air and by land with K9 units.

Not much information has been released regarding the circumstances of the death, but a witness said it was a shooting.

At one point, our news reporter heard deputies shout into a home with a loud speaker, telling someone to come out of the home with their hands up.

“Detectives say this was an isolated incident and the surrounding community is not in any danger,” the department said in a statement.

Hobbs was arrested in 2013 for second-degree battery, according to Lee County jail records. His last listed address was on Maddox Lane in Bonita Springs.
