LCSO is reporting on our Facebook page that on Wednesday in Lehigh Acres, an approximately 7-foot-long alligator crossed Homestead Rd. into Veterans Park near the tennis court parking lot; where several teens and adults were enjoying the day. Thankfully, Deputy Jennings was nearby, as he worked for FWC for 10 years previously and have experience catching alligators. With some ingenuity Deputy Jennings & Deputy Hardin fashioned a rope and they was able to get it around the gators neck. With the help of Deputy Hardin, who held the rope, Deputy Jennings jumped on the gators back and secured the jaw while Trainee Deputy Mata taped his mouth. FWC was contacted and they took the gator and released it in a safe are.
