A prescribed burn authorized by the Florida Forest Service has gone out of control in the Hickey Creek Mitigation Park Wildlife and Environmental Area.
The brush fire is located at 17980 Palm Beach Boulevard in Alva.
FWC was conducting the burn.It was authorized to burn 70 acres.
Both Alva and Lehigh Fire units responded to the bush fire. 50 acres have burned and it’s currently 50% contained.
No structures are threatened, according to the Florida Forest Service.
Over 15 acres outside the authorized area have already burned.
