The conditions of the roads in Lehigh Acres are always the subject of concern by residents. At the last Lehigh Community Council, a discussion came up about road repaving and needed repairs.
Lee County Commissioner Frank Mann, whose district includes Lehigh, said commissioners were to grant amounts of fund for roads in the upcoming budget.
Recently, the Lee County Commission passed its budget for 2016-17 and certain funds were earmarked for the roads and streets in Lehigh Acres.
“Once again, I am very pleased to share with you the new lists of Lehigh roads scheduled for resurfacing this budget year. These lists represent two contracts approved by the lee county commission.
“The first contract is in the amount of $300,345.95 which Lehigh Acres will receive 100 percent of the funds. The second contract is in the amount of $674,777, where Lehigh will receive 70 percent of the funds.
“Even with Lehigh Acres receiving the majority of the road resurfacing funding which comes from gas tax revenue, I remain committed to making the many more miles of roads in Lehigh my top priority. I want to take this time, once again, to thank the good citizens of Lehigh Acres for working closely with my office in identifying the priority road needs in the Lehigh Acres community,” said Lee County Commissioner Frank Mann.
