Intense lightning is believed to be responsible for over 18 fires in Lehigh Acres Thursday night near East 2nd Street, between Moore Road and Louis Avenue. The fires came very close to homes.
Multiple fires broke out around Lehigh Acres Thursday night. In two hours, crews worked over 18 different fires.
Neighbors are saying they noticed the fires just after hearing the sounds of thunder and lightning.
There were all kinds of lightning activity going on in the area,
Nearly six acres of Lehigh Acres burned near East 2nd Street in between Moore Road and Louis Avenue.
The fire grew and flames burned into the tops of trees.
The fire came very close to homes. Three structures were threatened. None of them burned thanks to the work of 28 firefighters from nine different agencies.
