Did The Fire Dept and its Leaders
Lie to The Voters of Lehigh Acres

Chief Wayne in his own words verbally told or wrote the churches and not for profits. In the letters dated Sept 22, 2014, “WILL NOT be charged a Fire Fee Assessment when the Fire Fee Assessment passes this November, The Board of Fire Commissioners has made a commitment to honor this exemption to the churches and other similarly categorized properties when the Fire Fee Assessment is put in place.”

And in the resolution dated March 24, 2015 it states, “No Fire Protection Assessments and Emergency Rescue Assessment shall be imposed upon Building located upon parcels of Institutional Property Whose Building use is wholly exempt from ad valorem taxation….”

So what is the BIG LIE ……

The Fire Dept is charging the Fire Fee Assessment to the following charitable organizations …… Kiwanis $3900, Knights of Columbus $1575, Jaycees $1339, Moose Lodge $1990, New Life Church $470, Christ United Methodist $584, St Raphael’s $90, Hope Hospice $9007, Goodwill $8048, Habitat for Humanity $584, VFW $1475, Masonic Lodge $3979, American Legion $2421 and Presbyterian Homes known as Sunshine Villas for $111,256.00 and more and more as we go through the list. So did the Fire Dept and its Leaders lie to the voters of Lehigh Acres, was it FRAUD to get the people to vote for the fire assessment fee?

The Fire Dept used a slogan… What’s Your Life Worth?  So what is community life worth when the Fire Dept does great monetary harm to many Lehigh Acres charitable organizations?

The Lehigh Acres Gazette tried to reach all the Commissioners:

Commissioner Carter said, “I voted against charging wholly exempt organizations.”; Commissioner Adams said, “We need to bring this up to the next board meeting.” And Commissioner Becker, Kruse and Smith do not return our call before publication.

  1. Should make for a fun meeting now that every property owner got something in the mail. They might need a larger venue with police presence.
