Bagels: 8 Count Bake Time: 30 Minutes Pre Heat: 350 Degrees
Ingredients:
4 1/4 Cups all purpose Flour
1 1/2 Tsp Salt
2 Tsp dried Yeast
1 Tbsp white Sugar
3 Tbsp White sugar
1 3/4 Cups Water
1 large pot filled half way with water
1 large stainless steel bowl
2 Non-stick baking tray
Mix 1 Tbsp of white Sugar into 1 3/4 Cups of Water and stir. Let it sit for 10 minutes, during this time the sugar will dissolve.
Mix 4 1/4 Cups of all purpose flour, 2 Tsp dried Yeast and 1 1/2 Tsp of Salt in a bowl.
Add the water into the bowl and slowly turn the mixture. Mix the ingredients the old fashion way using your hand. Make sure all the flour is mixed well into the water.
Mix for 15 minutes.
Make the mixture into a ball and put it in a bowl. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth until the dough doubles in size.
Spread a little flour on your clean counter top. You will be using it to place your dough. Cut the dough into 8 even pieces with butter knife. Knead each piece into round balls. The balls will look small but don’t worry they will expand in size. Be sure to leave enough room in between each ball. Cover all 8 balls with a damp cloth for 2 hours.
Boil a pot of water and add 3 Tbsp of White sugar while stirring.
Make a whole in the center of each dough using your index finger. Using a spatula put each dough into the boiling water. Let each dough sit for 25 seconds on each side before removing from the boiling water and placing it on a baking tray.
Pre-Heat oven to 350 degrees. Insert your dough into the oven and let this bake for 30 minutes.
