A local cab driver was shot at and chased early Wednesday morning along SR-82 in Lehigh Acres leaving some neighbors on high alert.
Cabby Joshua Bowes had just dropped off a customer on Quentin Avenue – just a couple blocks off SR-82. He called in a credit card and when he went to drive away, he found himself boxed in by a mini-van.
He feared for his life.
Andrew Hollenback a Lehigh Acres resident witnessed it all.
“I watched the taxi driver drive off, once he got to the stop sign, I heard the first shot. That’s when I called 911,” said Hollenback.
The driver told me someone inside the silver minivan opened the door and fired one shot.
Bowes switched to survivor mode – he said he drove through the grass and around the mini-van and then took off going as fast at 100 miles per-hour with the suspect’s car trailing him.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
