LEHIGH ACRES GAZETTE is tracking the rising price at the pump for you tonight. The national average for a gallon of regular unleaded is $2.43. Southwest Florida’s average is ten cents more.
AAA says the rise in gas prices is because oil has gone up $5 a barrel since Monday, rising tensions in the Middle East and because of spring break.
“I’ve been driving around town today and the average price is 2.55/2.56 per gallon,” said Rick Leblanc.
Overnight, gas prices in Lehigh Acres are up and drivers are noticing.
AAA does not expect the spike to last long.
