Shelter Worker Accused
Of Sex Act With Teen

Fort Myers Police Department has arrested Barrett Jermaine Williams of Lehigh Acres for sexual battery involving a minor according to the booking report.

FMPD detectives say that Williams is a staff member of The Source of Light & Hope Development Center’s Hope House located on 2666 Lime Street in Fort Myers.

The victim her parents met with detectives who told them of the incident of sexual assault involving a staff member while in the custody of the Hope House.

Detectives say they recovered evidence to support the claims and Williams was taken into custody Sunday morning.

Williams is facial multiple charges including sexual battery with a victim between 12-18 by a person older than 18; cruelty toward a child and possession of obscene material.

“This first degree felony case remains active as investigators review evidence,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant Victor Medico.

Williams is currently being held at the Lee County Jail on $250,000 bond.

The Source of Light & Hope Development Center’s Hope House, the children may be placed there by a judge, a case manager or by other means. It is currently licensed for 11 beds for children between the ages of 12 and 17.
