A family in Lehigh Acres is concerned after four people tried climbing into their back yard — one of the suspects was armed with a knife and had a clown mask covering his face.
It happened Tuesday around 5:30 p.m. on Schoolside Drive near Lehigh Acres Elementary School.
The screams from eight-year-old girl came after four people — two men and two women — tried to lure her and her two-year-old brother from their own backyard.
One suspect climbed up the back of a privacy fence and peered over — his face was covered by a clown mask, according to the LCSO. The eight-year-old screamed, the dog barked and family came running from inside — scaring off the suspects.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office report, the four suspects ran away along the back canal. A LCSO K9 unit tracked a scent toward the canal behind the house. The scent stopped and as of tonight, no arrests have been made.
I am particularly upset with the fact that our Communities children are being subjected to this level of perversion. The kids are our future and they look to us adults to protect them until they can do it themselves. Either we need additional law enforcement presence or less sex offenders moving into the area.
