Fans looking to catch the red-hot 8-1 FGCU men’s basketball team, ranked No. 12 in this week’s CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll, will have the opportunity to see the Eagles play at Alico Arena for the final times this calendar year at a discounted rate.
With students on break for the holidays, general-admission tickets for Sunday’s game against cross-state foe FIU (Dec. 14, 2 p.m.) and next Friday’s contest versus Furman (Dec. 19, 7:30 p.m.) can be purchased as a combo deal for only $15. General-admission tickets normally sell for $10 per game, giving fans a holiday savings of 25 percent to see Dunk City, which currently has the 35th-best RPI in the nation.
Additionally, fans have the opportunity to purchase a “Raining Threes” general-admission ticket package which includes three upcoming men’s and women’s games for only $13. The three games include Thursday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m. when the women (6-2) take on Providence and the doubleheader next Friday, Dec. 19, as the women take on Northern Colorado at 4:30 prior to the men’s game.
Tickets are available in person at the Alico Arena Ticket Office Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., over the phone by calling (239) 590-7145 or online by visiting FGCUAthletics.com and selecting the men’s basketball season ticket link (click here).
FGCU has sold out 13 of its last 14 home games as Alico Arena has become one of the most feared venues in the country for opposing teams. The Eagles are 34-3 at The Nest since the start of the 2013-14 season, in addition to a 22-1 record against non-conference opponents in the regular season dating back to the 2011-12 campaign.
FGCU is off to its best start in Division-I program history and has already defeated four 20-win teams from a season ago (UC Santa Barbara, Ohio, San Francisco, Massachusetts) and another (South Dakota State) which won 19 contests. FGCU has already played three teams ranked in the top-55 of the current RPI, going 2-1 against that group, and will still play three more teams ranked between 40 and 85 in the RPI in its non-conference schedule. In total, FGCU has already, or will, play seven teams in its non-conference schedule currently ranked in the top-120 of the RPI.
The Eagles’ lone loss this year came to Green Bay, which is currently the No. 1 team in the RPI, as the Phoenix won at then-No. 15 Miami (Fla.) Saturday to move to 6-2 this year.
