Employees at The Salvation Army in Fort Myers are wondering if a holiday miracle will appear for the 10th year.
A mysterious donor has been giving a valuable $20 gold Liberty Eagle coin dated 1925 to the local Salvation Army for the past nine years.
The News-Press reports (http://newspr.es/1vZ0R6g ) the coin typically brings in more than $1,000 for the organization depending on the price of gold. It often inspires coin-giving copycats who attach notes saying they’ve been inspired by the donor.
The coin has landed in The Salvation Army’s red kettles from North Fort Myers to Lehigh Acres. Once it arrived in the mail.
The coin coms attached with a note: “In loving memory of Mimi.”
No one knows who Mimi is or the identity of the anonymous donor.
