Lehigh Acres needs another high school, but the questions is — where will it go?
There are currently two high schools Lehigh Acres; Lehigh Senior HS and East Lee County HS, but increased growth show it’s time to build a new high school to accommodate the number of students in east Lee County
“They are close to capacity, both those schools are in the range of 18 to 1,900 students,” said a Lee County School District Spokesperson.
The school district owns property throughout Lehigh Acres.
The district wants to have the high school built by 2017 or 2018, but the price tag is high $50 million dollars.
“It includes the grounds, the football fields, the stadiums and all the facilities you need to house 2,000 high school students.”
Transportation and safety is key in choosing the right location.
The school board has from now until next summer to determine the next site for the Lehigh Acres High School. As far as where the money comes from, that has yet to be determined.
The County receives alot of tax money from Lehigh Residents but we never see our money! It’s time our money gets put back into our community and not other areas!!!
