Local Activist Files Election Complaint Against Local Fire Department

A local community activist has filed election complaint against Lehigh Acres Fire Department. Lehigh Acres Gazette is holding the name of the activist do to the confidentially status of the complaint and fear of personal attacks by the Fire Department.

The activist did say that he or she believes that the Fire Department has broken the law in its so-called educational program. The complaint goes into asking a question, who is actually paying for the billboard, flyers, website and signs because there are no disclosures statements on anything.

Are they using tax payer money? So who is accountable for it?

In August, the Fire board’s attorney, Richard Pringle, told the board of fire commissioners that they, the chief and employees could not in any way promote the passage of the Nov. 4 ballot question by asking people to “vote for” or “pass the assessment fee.”

Pringle cited legal requirements that all fire departments are subjected to and must follow throughout Florida.

The activist said an on duty firefighter approach him or her at a function that the firefighters were at promoting their so-called educational program asked people to “Please vote for the assessment and save my job”.

The Lehigh Acres Gazette has learned through public records the price that the PR firm doing this so-called educational program for the fire district is being paid a maximum of $32,500 plus third party extra’s such the billboard for $3,750.00 and YES it is being paid by the taxpayer money.
