Gov. Scott On Lee County’s Decision To Opt Out Of Testing

Governor Rick Scott

Governor Rick Scott weighed in on the Lee County School Board’s decision to opt out of state-mandated testing.

When asked about the historical decision the school board made, Gov. Scott said, “We will see exactly what they did, but I think the one thing they’ll have to think about is: did it impact their ability to get federal funding?”

“What impact, if they do lose that, will that have on their students?” Scott added.

Gov. Scott also said the biggest concern for a teacher, parent or student is whether the decision will reduce the schools’ federal funding.
