After being rescued from a storm drain and now recovering from a heart attack. We have new information on the Lehigh Acres man who found himself stuck in a storm drain Wednesday.
Don Goodwin fell into a storm drain outside of HOPE Hospice in Lehigh Acres Wednesday morning. Goodwin works at the Hospice center at a chaplain.
Don Goodwin was trying to fish out his car keys. To make matters worse the drain was filled with nearly three feet of water.
A woman heard Don Goodwin’s cries for help and quickly called Lehigh Acres Fire and Rescue to get him out.
Don Goodwin was taken to Lehigh Regional Medical Center to be treated for his minor scrapes and bruises. Later, he had to be transferred to the ICU at Gulf Coast Medical Center.
Cindy Goodwin (Don’s wife) said the father of three had open heart surgery a few years ago. He is doing well and is expected to be out of the ICU Thursday night.
I would like to say what a nice job that the LAFD did in helping save this mans life. This is just one in many ways that the fire dept. is able to respond to an emergency and get the job done. Thank you for all you do. It’s very unfortunate that so many people don’t realize how much training that the FD does so they can help SAVE LIVES in many different situations. GOD BLESS!!!
