Lehigh Fire and Rescue Department reports a man described as elderly had parked his car near Hope Hospice at 1201 Wings Way. When he was walking he dropped his car keys into a storm drain.
They say he removed the storm drain cover and tried to fish out his keys.
He then fell into the drain, head first about five feet down into about 3-4 feet of water.
His feet were dangling up in the air.
A woman, who was going to Hope Hospice as a volunteer, heard the man yelling for help.
When rescue crews got there, they immediately tried to elevate the man’s head to keep it above water.
He was pulled out and taken to Lehigh Regional to be checked out. No word yet on his condition.
Firefighters were able to fish out the man’s keys.
