A Southwest Florida man, who says his dreams of public service have been unfairly crushed, is now getting help in his battle to fight back.
Democrat Larry Aguilar is running for Florida House seat 79 (which covers much of northeast Lee County) against incumbent Republican Matt Caldwell.
At this point, however, Aguilar isn’t on the ballot.
The Division of Elections says he didn’t submit his paperwork in time.
But time-stamps from certified mail paint a different picture.
“I’ve again confirmed that we did send someone Friday morning and the post office would not release it to him for pick up and he even went back after the qualifying period was over Friday afternoon and it was not available.” said Brittany Lesser Communications Director Florida Department of State
Attorneys representing the Florida State Democratic Party, along with Aguilar’s own legal counsel, are ready to take action against the state election office.
The State Election authorities appears to be negligent in this case and as a result their misfeasance, completely removes any opposing choices from the good voters of Lehigh Acres. This was tried with Rick Scotts attempts by directed voter purges, which were found unconstitutional and stopped by court orders. Now this alleged disqualification of opposing party candidates to Republican Matt Caldwell smells of high official involvement. Let the facts come forth and let the chips fall where they may.
If any wrong doing is proven by future court proceedings, the most severe application of the law will be lobbied to State law enforcement officials for conviction/fines and possible incarceration of the guilty officials.
I AM A PROUD FLORIDA CRACKER AND I WILL NOT ALLOW MY STATE BE BRANDED A BANANA REPUBLIC………No longer are the people of South Florida going to ignore political corruption to this level.
