Fire Commissioners Still Do
Not Listen To The People

A special Blue Ribbon Panel, composed of six Lehigh Acres Community Business leaders headed by Rick Anglickis prepared a budget for the Lehigh Acres Fire and Rescue District in 2009.

It called for the laying off of fewer firefighters rather than what the department is considering in 2009. Lehigh Acres was facing financial problems in the fire department because of the lack of revenue coming in as ad valorem tax due to the devaluation of homes by the Lee County Property Appraiser.

Even in 2009, “The board must strike a budget by the end of September, according to state statute. Last month, the board voted for a resolution to ask the Supervisor of Elections of Lee County to hold a special election to ask voters to accept a $100 a parcel special assessment tax.”; Which was voted down by the fire board a month later.

Now five years later same issues and No Plan B and they still listen do not listen to the people that actually pay the bills.
