Frank Lohlein President of Citizens Against Increased Taxes (aka C.A.I.T.) said in a recent interview, that our voting block of 6000 people in Lehigh Acres will be voting no on the fire assessment.
According to Lohlein this tax assessment will destroy the town by raising taxes on family’s that are struggling to make it day by day. But Lohlein went further – “it will also do great harm to seniors on a fixed income, figuring out how to buy food or medications”.
Through Lohlein said he’s pro union, he stated that he’s very disappointed in the fire union.
“Our shopping center polls shows that this so-called assessment can be defeated easily”, Lohlein said.
As much as I disagree with Frank L. On his save Lehigh Crap I agree with him here. But He is a non resident of Lehigh Acres. and a landlord of the not so desirable. But he is old and thinks in that time frame in my oppinion
Frank Lohlein does live in Lehigh Acres, he is not a landlord.

It is not the fault of the Fire Board that Ad Valorem Taxes were reduced by the economic down turn locally/nationwide. Where I have a problem with the local Fire Board is that they ignored the early warnings in 2009 about the financial conditions and did nothing about it, except to make things worse by purchasing more equipment/personnel to add to the problem. In desperation to their worsening financial conditions, the Board approved passing on their liabilities to the tax payers of Lehigh Acres by approving a Special Assessment 2014-04-01 later amended 24 Jun 2014-06-01.
I do commend the Boards efforts to explain the new assessment to the public by setting up future seminars, but at this point its mute.
It shall be recommended too the Board to immediately appoint a citizens group made of Community Business personnel to develop an alternative budget plan. If approved by the Board, submitted Special Assessment shall be withdrawn and life goes on.
