Gerald “Jerry” Otting went home to be with the Lord Monday, June 30, 2014. He was born May 23, 1936 in Flint, MI to William and Mabel (Poss) Otting. We were Blessed to have him 78 years! Jerry leaves to cherish his memory and is survived by 5 of his 6 children: son, Anthony J. Otting (Cathy) of Lehigh; daughter, Teresa (Otting) Taylor (Marc) of Fort Myers; son, Kenneth Parker of Fort Myers; daughter, Brenda (Parker) Phelps (Russell) of Lehigh; son, Ervin L. Parker II of N. Fort Myers; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He also leaves behind his loving brother and sister-in-law Ralph “Jim” Otting (Josephine) of Albuquerque, N.M.and many nieces and nephews who will all miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by: his beautiful daughter, Sheryl (Parker) Brewer; his parents; and four siblings.
He lived most of his life in the Lapeer, MI. area, served our country for 4 years in the Army, married Norma (Rayl) together raising 6 wonderful children and then followed his heart’s desire to travel and see God’s beauty in almost every state. He was a gifted artist, thoroughly loved reading, was a stranger to no one and truly made friends everywhere he went. Now, he is no longer bound to this world and is most certainly enjoying the vastness and beauty of Heaven!
His Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Anderson-Patterson Cremation & Funeral Services chapel in Lehigh Acres on Monday, July 7th at 4 p.m.
