Loy Burnell Harper of Lehigh Acres, FL passed away on June 30, 2014. Born August 23, 1923 in West Frankfurt, IL, he was the son of Otto W. Harper and Myrtle Shehorn Harper. He is survived by his beloved wife Mildred Harper, son Neal J. Harper of Lawrenceburg, KY, and daughter Leanne C. Harper of Corona, CA, as well as grandchildren Ashley Harper and Brandon Harper. A successful businessman for many years, Loy Harper developed, owned, and ran Holiday Hills Camping Resort on Lake Barkley in Western Kentucky for 10 years before becoming Director of Tourism for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, from which he retired. A proud decorated veteran of U.S. Army Air Corps in the China-Burma-India (CBI) theater of World War II, he was very active in the CBI Veterans Association and other veterans groups in Florida, travelling throughout the United States, England and China to CBI meetings.
Visitation will be held from 1-1:45pm on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Anderson-Patterson, 2701 Lee blvd. Lehigh Acres, FL with funeral services immediately following. Military will present at 2pm.
