The winner of the Dean McNew athletic scholarship program was Ronzell Evans. Lehigh Senior High has partnered with the Lehigh Acres Kiwanis Club Foundation every year to give this $8,000 scholarship to a Lehigh Senior High School student-athlete in memory of Lehigh basketball coach Dawn McNew’s late husband Dean McNew. Dean was a coach at the school and was named as one of the Kiwanis Clubs “Home Town Hero” after saving the life of a choking student. Evans 6’ 7” played both football and basketball in his senior year. And was the captain of the Boys basketball team. Evans will be attending Webber International University majoring in Criminal Justice this fall.
