This year’s Spring Festival, Lehigh’s Southern Fried Festival, will begin on March 14 and conclude on March 22. The Baby/Toddler, Prince/Princess, and Junior Miss/Queen Pageants will be conducted on Sunday, March 16. The Junior Miss and Queen Pageant’s deadline, February 23, is drawing near so potential contestants are encouraged to complete and submit their applications as soon as possible. The Junior Miss age group includes girls aged 9 through 13 as of March 2014, and the Queen age group includes girls aged 14 through 18 as of March 2014. The entry fee for this year’s Junior Miss/Queen Pageant is $30, and if contestants choose to enter the optional talent portion of the competition, there is an additional $20 fee. Applications are available by going to the website, lehighspringfestival.com, and clicking on the link labeled “Miss Lehigh Pageant.” The first rehearsal for this pageant will be on Sunday, February 23 beginning at 2:00, and will be held at Footnotes Dance and Music Studio. Applications can be submitted at the first rehearsal. Applications for the Baby/Toddler and the Prince/Princess Pageants are also available on the website by clicking the appropriate link. Get your aprons on! The Spring Festival BBQ Cook Off is looking for all local amateur Pigmasters to participate in this year’s BBQ Cook Off. This event is set for Saturday, March 15. Registration begins at 9:00 at the contest tent, with the cooking to begin at 10:00. The entry fee is $25 for either BBQ Chicken or BBQ Pork Ribs, or $50 for both. Get your completed applications and entry fees turned in as soon as possible to guarantee your spot in the cook-off. Get your shoes out! Horseshoes, that is, as the Spring Festival annual Horseshoe Tournament is looking for 2-man teams to participate in what looks to be the best tournament ever! Signups will take place Friday, March 14 through Sunday, March 16, with tournament play beginning Sunday. This is a double elimination tournament , must win 2 out of 3 to stay in. The 1st and 2nd place winning team will be awarded a cash prize out of a $1000 prize fund, with special prizes to be announced at the presentation of the winners. Entry fee is $50 per team. The Lehigh Spring Festival is proud to announce that the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show will be holding multiple performances on Parade Day, Saturday, March 22. This year marks 33 years with their Lumberjack show in the family entertainment industry. Their action packed show features log rolling, log rolling dogs, chopping, sawing, axe throwing, dragster chainsaw, and tree climbing…all with World Champion Lumberjacks. Their show is historical, educational, and humorous…plus it’s filled with audience participation. Anyone who attended their appearance at the 2002 Spring Festival can attest to how popular they were with the young and old alike.
