More than half of Lee County’s 300 miles of roadway are in Lehigh Acres – and it’s probably where you will find some rather-annoyed residents with dirty cars, flat tires and other issues..
Lee County Department of Transportation Deputy Director Randy Cerchie says the agency has a plan to fix it all, after county commissioners approved $1.2 million to slap asphalt down on 90 streets in Lehigh Acres.
Cerchie says the problem has plagued the area for a decade.
“When they had the building boom in 2003-2005, the trucks took a toll on the roads,” Cerchie said.
Within six months, the roads will look the way they should
The money will also help install a crosswalk at nearby Sunniland Boulevard and Crooms Avenue.
