On Saturday, January 25, 2014 over 700 students will participate in the Thomas Alva Edison Kiwanis Science and Engineering Fair and the Thomas A. Edison Inventors Fair. Public school, private school and home-schooled students from Southwest Florida will be competing at the Harborside Convention Center for over $900,000 in scholarships from local universities and colleges. This is a signature event of the Edison Festival of Light (EFOL) showcasing extraordinary over 400 Science Fair projects and approximately 300 ingenious Inventions. Judging begins at 9 AM. The Inventors Fair will be open to the public between 1:30 and 4 PM and the Science from approximately 2 PM to 5 PM.
The fun and educational EFOL Discovery Village on Edwards Drive and Centennial Park will run concurrent to the Fairs. Discovery Village features interactive STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) exhibits that are free to the public.
