On Sunday, November 25, 2013, at 1:33 am, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop for a safety violation in the area of Brookfield Street and Ation Avenue in Lehigh Acres.
Deputies learned that during traffic stop several suspects fled from the vehicle. Responding deputies heard shots fired as the suspects fled. Bravo District deputies converged on the scene and set up a perimeter. The sheriff’s office K-9 and Aviation Units responded to assist with the suspect search.
Persons of interest have been detained. The deputy was not injured.
This is an isolated incident and the community is safe.
Due to the nature of the call detectives with the Major Crimes Unit have assumed the investigation.
The investigation is on going at this time. No further details are available at this time.
