Jury Selection Is Under Way
For Woman Accused Of Killing Boyfriend

Melissa Christine Webb

Jury selection is under way in the trial of a Lehigh Acres woman accused of killing her boyfriend.

Melissa Christine Webb is accused of killing her boyfriend, Bryan Sorendino, and dumped his body in a wooded area of Charlotte County off of State Road 31, according to Lee deputies arrest reports. His remains were found buried under a pile of debris, wrapped in a red sleeping bag and a patterned bed comforter. An autopsy indicated that Sorendino died from two small caliber gunshot wounds. Webb was arrested at the Lee County Jail and is facing charges of Second Degree murder.

One witness, a close friend of Sorendino, last spoke with him on August 19, 2011. Sorendino told the friend that he had broken up with Webb a few days prior. The witness told deputies that Sorendino told him she had broken into his apartment through a window and was currently at his residence, reports said.

Bryan Sorendino

Deputies said Sorendino lived at 11916 Corinne Lee Court in Fort Myers, with Webb, until he disappeared around August 20, 2011. A search warrant of the residence revealed evidence of blood and multiple blood splatters on the stairs. Reports indicate it had been cleaned in an attempt to conceal the evidence. Also found was a brown patterned pillow case matching the comforter wrapped around Sorendino’s body. Webb recently stayed with her parents and a search warrant of their home, on the 400 block of 8th Avenue in Lehigh Acres, revealed evidence related to the crime as well, according to reports.

Lee detectives spoke with a witness who claims that Webb told him that she had shot Sorendino twice and buried his body a few days prior. He told detectives that Webb called him a few days later and thanked him for listening. When he asked what she was referring to, Webb said, “That I killed Bryan”.
