Are Feeding Yourself Well?

By Robert L. James, PhD

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.    3 John 1:2

I don’t know if you have noticed, but there are a lot of texts in the Bible that indicate that man is a tricotomy.  Man is created in the likeness and image of God. As God is a triune being (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), man is also a triune being (spirit, soul, and body).

So, since it is obvious from the many entries in the Word of God that man (and woman) has three parts, my question is simple.  I am asking if you are feeding all three parts of yourself.  Are you feeding your physical, mental and spiritual nature?  Are you promoting the growth of yourself in every area?

I know that you have seen the body builders walking around shirtless promoting their powerful looking bodies.  Also, I am sure that you have seen the ones that are called brainiacs because of their heavy use of their brains.

I dare say that there are some who are so filled with Scripture that their every word seems to come from the Word of God.  They are deeply spiritual.    But is it okay to be Only Spiritual, or only Mental, or only Physical.

It is obvious that being one sided is not the best.   That’s why God, through John, says He wants us to be physical, mental and spiritual.  He says it like this:  I wish above all things that thou mayest  prosper  which is mental, and be in health  which is physical even as thy soul prospereth which is spiritual.

So, I ask you again, are you feeding yourself well?  Are you nurturing yourself in all three areas?  What have you done for yourself lately in the area of building your physical being?    And what have you done lately to improve your mental, thinking, reasoning power?   Even if you have been feeding the spiritual, have you been neglecting the others.

So, my Brother, my Sister, Are YOU feeding yourself well?  Don’t just read this ….think about it, then, do something about….put it into action.     God bless you as you Feed Yourself Well.
