New Dog Park Opens
At Veterans Park

Lee County Parks & Recreation has opened its newest dog park – called Paws 4 Duty – in Veterans Park in Lehigh Acres, 55 Homestead Road.

Paws 4 Duty offers two shaded large off-leash areas; one is for large dogs and the other is for small, shy dogs or puppies that need a smaller space. The park features water and shower stations as well as waste removal stations, and there are public restrooms for pet owners nearby.

“Lee County is pleased to offer residents and visitors an additional dog-friendly site to bring their canine friends to exercise and socialize,” said Dave Harner, director of Lee County Parks & Recreation.

While dogs are not allowed in the general areas of the 95-acre park, there is a designated dog walk to allow pets/owners to access Paws 4 Duty from the northeast walk through park entrance. Veterans Community Park surrounds Veterans Academy of the Arts School and winds back to the Lehigh Acres Middle School.

Lee County Parks & Recreation offers a total of 11 dog-friendly facilities. Six parks offer on- and off-leash areas and five offer on-leash areas.

  1. Beautiful park. Sheena enjoyed it even though no one else was there in the rain. Would have been even nicer if there was a water feature that the dogs could play in. It’s so hot here and it affects the dog’s ability to stay out inthe heat and I know that Sheena gets less social in the heat. But still, I applaud Parks and Rec for a great job.

    1. What an Insult too the children and the tax payers of Lehigh Acres! Money wasted for a dog park in this community, Are you kidding me? Anybody think about a pool for the kids or seniors! The money actually could have been used to benefit several other activities in the community!! And everyone wonders why the economy is in the shape its in!!!!!!!!!!

      1. I’m impressed that the internet TROLLS (Kyle)even found fault for the a new dog friendly park. Grow up!!!!
