Golden Retriever Rescue of Southwest Florida, Inc. (GRRSWF) is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit dog rescue organization. Based in Southwest Florida, Golden Retriever Rescue of Southwest Florida is dedicated to finding exceptional homes for exceptional Golden Retrievers and Golden mixes that are homeless, abandoned in Shelters or surrendered by their owners into their “forever” homes.

Robert Anderson, the Publisher of the Lehigh Acres Gazette stepped into action and intervened with the prior owner of a 12 week old mixed lab puppy and convinced the board of the GRRSWF to take in this beautiful peanut in.

She was renamed Maya because it would have been confusing for all using her original given name.

Maya was an emergency intake who was headed to a kill shelter through no fault of her own in the morning, but her prior family surrendered her to GRRSWF Monday night.

She is a beautiful little girl and giving up a pet is a very difficult decision, but GRRSWF realizes that in making this choice, you are thinking about your dog’s best interests and the prior owner understood this.

Maya is now on medication for a tap and hock worms and is during very well, she has also received her baby shots. But there is only one thing left to do —  find her a foster or a “forever” home.

Could you help find Maya a “forever” home?
