It’s the second time in nearly a month a hog trapper in the Alva area has caught something other than a hog in his trap.
Trapper Dale Vest, of Lehigh Acres, said he went to check on his hog trap in Alva on Sunday around 11 a.m.
He heard something rattling inside and just assumed he would find a hog. Instead he found what he describes as a 250-pound black bear.
“It’s just unusual to trap a bear like this,” said Vest.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission arrived and tranquilized the bear and transferred to a proper-size cage
FWC officer said the bear will be released back into the wild.
