Dr. Winston Bishop the Principal Sunshine Elementary School has been suspended with pay at this time.
Bishop was suspended June 13th for misconduct.
The district won’t say what the misconduct is – or how long its investigation will go.
Bishop has been with the Lee County School District since 1993.
According the Amity Chandler Lee County Schools communications Director stated by email “the School District does not comment on personnel matters”.
He is in our school, over seeing our children’s education and for that matter around children 6 months out of the year. We as parents should have every right to know why he is suspended, or why there is being an investigation. Makes me a little eerie about sending my children back to sunshine this year.

Now listen you guys. Im 12 and Bishop is my uncle. He was doing well at that school until whatever happened and now he lives with my mom and I. He was a great principal at that school and cared about the studens. Not just a few, all of them. As far I know a woman came at him all nasty, thats what my mom told me. It makes me mad seeing people talking about him.
I don’t think it’s fair that this is being kept a secret as to why the principal was suspended being that now days out in the schools the teachers and principals and coaches do no know how to act and we are seing more and more sexual predators out of these people that should be professional at all times. i have a 7 year old kid and it’s scary not having any idea what could possibly get Bishop suspended and that my child is going back there again this year and having no information as to this issue.
Misconduct could mean anything. I knew Bishop when he was VP at another school. We should not jump to conclusions, but the parents of Sunshine do have a right to know what the allegations are.
Anyways i found out it has nothing to do with kids but more with the staff so i do feel a little better knowing this even though i do not have the specifics.
Misconduct could be anything, I’m sure it’s personal and not related to students, personnel or staff.
I would just like to say no one is forcing you to keep your children at Sunshine. If you are that uncomfortable than switch schools. Before you people even know the truth you are implying he should not be around children and spreading rumors yourself. How unfair is that.
Guys Im bishop’s nephew and he a loving,kind, and caring man. My self is trying to find out what happened without asking him because I know it’ll make him sad. If you can please no negative comments if you can please.(Notice I’m serious because i’m typing proper english, no slant)
