Tropical Storm Andrea Update

Tropical Storm Andrea has formed in the Gulf of Mexico, with winds at 40 mph, and is moving very slowly to the N/NE at 3 mph.  A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect from Boca Grande northward, and much of Southwest Florida is under a flood watch.

Andrea will be a rainmaker more than anything, with 1-2 inches of rain possible on Thursday and Friday, with the small possibility of a few waterspouts on Thursday, and minor coastal flooding through Saturday.  The surf will also be a bit high, and high tides will likely be a few feet higher than normal.

The cone of probability is not very important with Andrea, as it is a disorganized storm, and most of the weather is on the east side of the storm.  It’s also important to point out that the National Hurricane Center does not have this storm getting much stronger at all before it moves into north Florida late Thursday.
