Deb Kik and AOI Board Member Joel Hawkins
Best of Show winner is artist Deb Kik for her oil painting entitled “Queen Gugi.” Judge Roes commented, “An absolutely brilliantly painted portrait that echos many tragic historic figures from Medusa to Elizabeth Taylor to Lady Chablis. Excellent paint handling and pallet.”

First Place winner is artist June DeVincent for her oil painting “Montana Poppies.” “interesting use of the medium,at first glance, it appears to be an airy watercolor only to discover it is oil paint. …”Montana Poppies” is a vibrant, beautiful painting.” said Roes.

Second Place winner is Joan Benner for “Tiger Boy.” “A humorous portrait of a developing trick-or-treater. Has a similar feeling of serious, sour demeanor to Dutch portrait painting.” Roes commented.

Third Place winner is Sylvie DeGraff for “Manhood.” Roes commented, “This painting is interesting and provocative. Daring use of imagery and strong diversity and exploration of marks.”
I have a oil painting at my home. It is of “The Old Bridge..Lehigh Acres”. It was painted by Joan Benner.
I am interesting in having the Joan Benner who painted The Tiger Boy to contact me. Perhaps she would like to have it.
