4-H Lehigh Acres Edible Gardening Exchange Meeting:
The 4-H will meet from 5:30p to 6:30p on Thursday, April 18th in the Veterans Park Recreational Building, 55 Homestead Road South. Guest speakers also speak to the 4-H. Venue requires a once-in-a-lifetime fee of $10 per person. 4-H membership is $1 for the remainder of the the 2012-2013 year.

This group is well organized and very informative. The lady Karen that created it really does an awesome job and goes above and beyond to share her love and expertise knowledge of edible gardening. Karen devotes much of her own time to this group as well as the 4H group she started in conjunction with the Lehigh Acres Edible Garden Exchange.
Karen is a great assert to the community.
That was asset to community not assert.
I’ve taken an interest in “greening” by family’s diet and weeding out the processed foods. We’ve already changed our diets dramatically but I’d like to start feeding them food grown at home. Unfortunately, I know nothing about starting or maintaining a garden and usually can’t even keep a houseplant alive for very long. In trying to learn more I ran across discussions of communal gardens where you donate your labor in exchange for a certain amount of produce? I’ll gladly take any advice.
