Lee Memorial Health System Honors Nearly 300 Employees for Service of 20 Years or More

More than 275 employees of Lee Memorial Health System were recognized recently for reaching benchmark years of employment of 20 years of employment or more in 2013. Service Award recipients were honored with dinner and a play at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre on March 23.

Lee Memorial Health System has 938 active employees that have worked within the health system for twenty years or longer; equivalent to about 10% of staff. Of those, 280 were recognized for hitting five year benchmark employment anniversaries between 20 and 45 years of service.

“Service Awards are a time for us to appreciate and encourage our invaluable team and recognize their loyalty and dedication. People are the greatest asset of this organization,” says Jim Nathan, President of Lee Memorial Health System. “I believe their commitment comes from knowing they are doing something meaningful and worthwhile within their community; a testimony of personal and professional achievements that have contributed to the success of the health system over the years.”

Employees celebrating 5, 10, or 15 years of service will be recognized at a series of luncheons taking place in April.

LMHS is the largest employer in Lee County. It has received national recognition numerous times as an employer of choice and for creating a quality workplace. Lee Memorial Health System received the award for Best Hospital Workplace in the state by the Florida Hospital Association in 2010.  AARP also recognized LMHS as one of the “50 Best Employers for Workers over 50” in 2009. Such awards reflect the health system’s efforts to enhance employee satisfaction through creative retention strategies.

“By fostering the right culture we have been fortunate to attract and keep great employees,” says Nathan.  “Happy employees, especially those who serve the public, are more likely to go the extra mile.”
