A Dodge Ram was traveling south on State Road 29 on the southbound lane. For unknown reasons, According to FHP reports the driver failed to maintain control. The driver (drifted) in a southeasterly direction across the northbound lane and entered the grassy east shoulder. The driver then overcorrected by steering in a southwesterly direction across both lanes of State Road 29 while left front struck and knocked down a standing tree.
One occupant Edgar Renata, 19, of Lehigh Acres, FL was pronounced deceased on scene. The second occupant Ivan Zapata-Cruz, 19, of Immokalee, FL, Serious Injuries was transported to Naples Community Hospital
