Founded in 1916, Lee Memorial Health System is the fifth largest public health system in the U.S. Comprised of four acute care and two specialty hospitals, as well as outpatient centers, walk-in medical centers, nursing and home health facilities, and primary care and specialty physician offices, it’s an award winning health system which provides programs unique to the community it serves.
Lee Memorial Health System has the only children’s hospital, trauma center, kidney transplant program, regional perinatal intensive care center (RPICC), and one of a kind Regional Cancer Center partnership, available from Tampa to Miami.
Lee Memorial Health System does not receive direct tax payer support and is grateful for the thousands of community volunteers who dedicate countless hours working to enhance the health system’s quality of care. They provide personal interaction and extra services that would otherwise not exist, and are a vital component of the success of this organization.
As the largest employer in Lee County, over 10,500 employees serve the community, working day and night, to fulfill the health system’s mission to improve the health care status of the people of Southwest Florida. This is done through comprehensive, efficient, and compassionate care delivery, as well as partnerships with a variety of community organizations. Involvement goes even further in that many employees walk, run, and raise money for national and local charities. System leaders and staff are dedicated to making a difference.
Priorities may change over time, but a commitment to high quality, safe and compassionate care is constant. Rather than making safety a priority, it’s part of Lee Memorial Health System’s culture and its number one core value. Dedication to constant improvement, while competently and compassionately serving the community, is why Lee Memorial Health System consistently ranks among the best in the nation – both clinically and for sensitivity to patient and family needs.
We’re much more than just a health system. We’re caring people, caring for people.
