The Honorable James H. Seals, who recently retired at the end of August, was having pizza with the Pace Center for Girls of Lee County around noontime today. While sitting in the Patio de Leon in downtown Fort Myers, much to his surprise, he was treated to a flash mob dance to celebrate his almost three decades of service to Lee County as a Dependency Court Judge.
Deborah Leoci Meisenberg, a local attorney, was responsible for orchestrating the event. She enlisted the assistance of Betty Gourley, a dance instructor at Footnotes Dance & Music Studio in Lehigh Acres, to choreograph the routine. Approximately 45 days of choreography and practice went into preparing for the event.
In true flash mob fashion, the dance was started by a single dancer – Betty’s daughter, Amanda – to the slow soothing sound of music. Followed by Patty Jackson’s Dancing Divas, many judges, lawyers, and others soon burst into dance with “Old Time Rock & Roll” by Bob Seger. Approximately 50 people participated in the dance.
After the mob, Judge Seals said, “This was a huge surprise!” and expressed his thanks to everyone involved.
