The Jaguars took a 7-0 lead when senior Kendall Sawyer capped a 14-play, 77-yard play drive with a 1-yard touchdown run with 8:05 left in the first half. The march featured two fourth-down conversations, including a 19-yard completion from junior quarterback Winfred Ward to senior tight end Sheldon Fleming on fourth-and-8. The 6-foot-3, 242-pound Fleming finished with a team-high three catches for 56 yards.
During the fourth quarter the Jaguars pulled within 14-13 on a 3-yard touchdown run by senior Omaris Tolbert with 8:57 left. Tolbert finished with a team-high 83 rushing yards on just six carries after taking over for Sawyer, who took a hard hit at the end of the first half and came off the field.
Edwards’ third touchdown, an 11-yard run, put Riverdale up 20-13 with 3:59 remaining. East Lee drove to the Riverdale 41, but Ward’s fourth-down pass fell incomplete with 2:20 left and the Raiders were able to run out the clock.
