Dear Editor,
Yesterday in one of our newer Neighborhood Watch areas a member of the community saw something suspicious and immediately called the Sheriff’s Office. Because of their prompt action the deputy was able to get their while the thieves were going about their “business.” The result is that two thieves are now in jail, the whole of the east district is safer, and a Neighborhood Watch is affirmed in their efforts. The icing on he cake is that the home is a vacant home, which means that the neighbors are really alert. Protecting the vacant homes as well as occupied homes protects the whole neighborhood.
I congratulate the members of that Neighborhood Watch for their quick action.
Please feel free to use this message to encourage the members of your group to stay on the alert. While it is true that two thieves are out of business for a while, unfortunately there are still a few more out there. Let’s see if we cannot get a few more off the street.
Thank you for all you do to make the East District a safer place for all of us to live.
