The State of Florida is holding more than two million dollars of unclaimed property accounts for people who have lived in, or currently live in ,Lehigh Acres. Presently there are 7,474 different accounts waiting to be claimed.
These unclaimed property accounts are mostly from dormant accounts in financial institutions, insurance and utility companies, securities and trust holdings. In addition to money and securities, unclaimed property includes tangible property such as watches, jewelry, coins, currency, stamps, historical items and other miscellaneous articles from abandoned safe deposit boxes. There is no statute of limitations, and citizens have the right to claim their property any time at no cost.
