On June 2, 2012 a phone was found in a shopping cart of Wal-Mart, 505 SW Pine Island Road, Cape Coral and turned over to law enforcement officers. The phone contained images of what appeared to be child pornography.Due to the nature of the incident, the phone was turned over to a Cape Coral police detective who is also a task force agent with the FBI Innocent Images Task Force. The detective obtained a search warrant to access the phone and recovered numerous images that were sexual in nature and constituted child pornography. Additional information was obtained identifying contact information on the phone. One of the contacts was a detective with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Sexual Predator Unit. When the detective was given the phone number, he recognized it as that belonging to one of the sexual offenders on which he conducts sexual offender verifications on a regular basis. That sexual offender was identified as Alan Johnson (DOB: 01/31/1979) 1114 3rd Way, North Fort Myers. Further investigation revealed the phone was registered to the same address.
Additional investigation by an Innocent Images Task Force member with the Clewiston Police Department uncovered a Facebook page containing some of the images from the phone and the same phone number.
On June 27, 2012 a search warrant was executed at 1114 Third Way in North Fort Myers. The home was occupied by Alan Robert Johnson, (DOB 01/31/1979), and Jennifer Sparks, (DOB 11/22/1974). Within the residence detectives located evidence of Johnson and Sparks producing child pornography images and videos via what is believed to be a cellular telephone’s camera device. These images and videos show Johnson and Sparks engaging in sex acts with a four-year-old female child. Additional images were recovered from cell phones found within the home. The child was not present. Detectives made contact with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. They were able to locate the child and confirmed she is a live victim. She is currently in the custody of DCF.
Additional information uncovered during the course of this investigation led detectives to Johnson’s criminal history which revealed he was previously convicted of possession and transportation of child pornography and had served time in prison for these charges. He is currently a registered sexual offender in Lee County. Johnson and Sparks were arrested and transported to the Lee County Jail for processing. Both are being held with no bond.
